The VDE symbol is an internationally recognized symbol, globally protected and validated by the Foreign Inspection Board, and it can only be issued by the VDE Testing and Certification Academy in Offenbach. In the VDE inspection process, it is especially important that the inspection, which is based on VDE and DIN regulations, be carried out to full standards. The VDE symbol asserts a comprehensive statement about the safety of electrotechnical products including electrical, mechanical, thermal, toxic and other dangerous substances. Besides meeting VDE requirements, a product bearing the VDE mark also complies with workplace health and safety and accident prevention regulations. A manufacturer has the right to mark its products with the VDE symbol if compliance with safety regulations is verified by VDE authorities. Furthermore, the production process is monitored by VDE Inspection Committee engineers who take random samples for re-inspection.
